The stunning Nikau pendant is another great instalment in the Seed System range. These incredible pieces are inspired by New Zealand's vast natural beauty. To ensure minimal impact on the environment, the Seed System pendants are constructed in New Zealand using chemical free bamboo ply. Through market research, it was determined that reducing freight volume by developing kitsets drastically reduces the company's environmental footprint
“Nikau is the name of the only indigenous palm tree in New Zealand. It has a large bulb at the top of its trunk and its leaves overlap in similar patterns. It was traditionally used for thatching and weaving, much like the coconut palm. But the early Maori arrivals were disappointed to see no coconuts on it, which is a possible source of the name: “no nuts!”. David Trubridge
