Meet the Maker | Sundown Lighting

Behind every Sundown piece is a story, not just of timber, but of place, perspective, and purpose.

Founded by designer Chris Delia after years working abroad, Sundown is a small, family-run practice on the coast of Victoria. With a background in product design and hands-on craft, Chris brings a uniquely grounded warmth to the world of lighting.

A DESIGNER'S JOURNEY

Before launching Sundown, Chris worked across Australia, London, and Canada, building luxury interiors and crafting with carbon fibre, leather, and timber. But it was his time overseas that sharpened a desire for something slower, more honest. Coming home, he wanted to build a studio that felt local, tactile, and human, where lighting could be both playful and grounded.

THE TIMBER TELLS THE STORY

All of Sundown’s timber is sourced in Victoria, through two partners:
One who is licensed to harvest fallen timber from the forest floor, producing high-quality timber with minimal ecological footprint, and another supplier that specialises in processing and sorting construction timber to be able to provide a selection of premium native Australian hardwoods.

NATURE, NOSTALGIA & PLAY

Inspired by the coastal landscape around them, Sundown’s designs, like the best-selling Wave, embrace soft geometry and a subtle sense of play.

While many timber lights lean minimal or serious, Sundown leans joyful and warm. They’re not just objects, they’re characters in a space.

Whether you're designing a home or a hospitality space, Sundown's work invites you to think slower, to value what’s made with care, and to bring more soul into every room.
