The Ceramic Urchin Wall Sconce is handmade in Sydney. The original shell was scanned and 3D printed to create a master, then cast in porcelain and fired unglazed. The bare surface lets light pass through, following the ridges of the original shell, creating an inviting glow across surrounding wall surfaces. The delicate material interacts with light to enhance depth.
This sculptural wall fixture creates a calm ambience in entryways, hallways, and living rooms. Its understated form suits textural interiors and spaces that lean toward natural materials. Installed beside a mirror or along an extended wall, the ceramic piece serves as a unique focal point. With the IP54 integrated LED option, it's also suited to bathrooms and protected outdoor areas.
Please Note: Due to the artisanal, handmade nature of this fitting, natural variations in size, form, colour, pattern and texture may occur. We do not consider these to be defects, but rather a celebration of the unique character and natural beauty of each individual piece. If you require a matching pair, please contact us prior to purchase so we can assist in matching your products.

Milly Dent Studio makes handcrafted wall sconces rooted in the textures and forms of the Sydney coastline. Each piece begins with close observation of the natural world — coral structures seen under a microscope, the surface of a sea urchin shell — translated into sculptural porcelain forms that function as both lighting and art.
The studio spotlight covers:
The work is considered and unhurried. Every piece is made to be lived with, not stored away. It's a compelling example of Australian design at its most thoughtful.
