Made to order: 2 - 12 Weeks

Crafted in Hobart, the Copper Laminate Australian Timber Propeller Pendant contrasts darkened timber with a lustrous copper interior. Designed by Duncan Meerding, whose vision impairment shapes his unique approach, this pendant highlights the interplay between light and form an enduring theme across his work.

Duncan shares: "The relationship between light and shadow and light dispersion are integral to my design process. Being legally blind with less than 5% of my sight remaining, the vision of light emanating from the peripheries of the different objects, reflect the alternative sensory world within which I design."

Featuring eight curved blades lined with brushed or polished copper laminate, enhancing the warm glow of the light source. Its sculptural, floral-inspired form allows light to reflect off the copper and cast dramatic shadows across surrounding surfaces.

Using a combination of hand-operated and computer-aided tools, each blade slots into a custom aluminium bracket and is secured with a subtle clamping system. The bracket connects to a turned Tasmanian Blackwood nose cone cover cap.

This user-friendly flat-pack system is designed to reduce shipping costs and environmental impact. Each pendant includes a 2m black cloth electrical cord, black ceiling rose, and an instruction sheet—with a video guide available online.
