Design with Light. Let Our Experts Illuminate Your Home.

Why lighting design changes everything

Good lighting isn't about choosing beautiful fittings — though we can help with that too. It's about understanding how light layers, where it falls, how it changes throughout the day, and what it does to the way a space feels at night.

Without a plan, most homes end up lit from above. Every room the same. Functional, but flat. The architecture disappears after dark. You add floor lamps. You buy dimmer switches. You live with it.

With a plan, lighting becomes part of the build, not an afterthought. The right fittings in the right positions, on the right circuits, doing the right job for each space. Bright where you need focus. Soft where you want to exhale.

Our consultation services exist to help bring your space alive!

"I'm a Commercial Designer and go to the Lighting Collective first on every job I do. Their range is so perfectly curated, and all the fittings I've installed for my clients have been of the highest quality. More than that, the reason I always come back is the ease of quoting, purchasing and delivery. Any supplier with quality products that make my life as a designer easier will always get my business. Love your team and everything you do. The photos are of my most recent project in Byron Bay, and the feedback has been overwhelming."

Is this for you?

Our consultations are best suited to:

  • Homeowners building new or undertaking a significant renovation

  • Projects where lighting will be specified before walls are closed — giving us the ability to plan placement, circuits and switching properly.

  • Anyone who wants to walk away with a complete lighting plan and product schedule, not just a list of suggestions

  • Interior designers and architects looking for a knowledgeable product and planning partner

Not sure if your project qualifies? Our free 30-minute session is the right starting point. We'll tell you honestly whether a full consultation will add value for your specific project.

What to expect

Before your session

Gather anything that helps us understand your project — floor plans, mood boards, images of spaces you love, or a rough idea of the fixtures you've been drawn to. You don't need to have strong opinions yet. That's what we're here for.

During your session

We'll work through your space room by room, talking through how you live in each one. We'll discuss light layering, placement, product options, and how to build a lighting mood that works for your aesthetic and your budget.

After your session

You'll receive a lighting plan and product specification you can take directly to your builder, electrician, or architect. Every recommendation links to real products from our range.

Ongoing

We're available throughout your project for questions, substitutions, and final selections. When you're ready to order, your product schedule is already built.

Commonly asked questions

Do I need to have my floor plans ready?

It helps, but it's not essential for the free discovery session. For a full consultation, having floor plans (even rough ones) allows us to create a proper lighting plan with accurate placement. If you're at the concept stage, we can still have a useful conversation.

Can you work with my architect, builder or interior designer?

Absolutely. We produce plans and specifications that are designed to be handed directly to your project team. Your consultant can liaise with your team throughout the process, and we're happy to include them in sessions where useful.

Can I book a consultation online if I'm not near Byron Bay?

Yes. All our consultation tiers are available online via video call. If you live close to Byron Bay, you can also come to us in person. The process and deliverables are identical — you'll just need to share your floor plans digitally in advance.

How is this different from just browsing your website?

Browsing gives you products. A consultation gives you a plan — a considered, room-by-room lighting strategy that takes into account your architecture, your daily routines, your aesthetic, and your budget. It's the difference between buying fittings and designing a lighting scheme.

I just need to know what fitting to use in my kitchen. Is that worth booking?

If it's a quick question, our free online resources and buying guides may be the faster path — check our Help Guides first. If you're planning a kitchen renovation and want to get the whole thing right, a consultation will save you time, money, and regret.

How quickly can I book in?

If you are looking for a complementary session, we can usually book you in within a couple of days. For the virtual consultation and extended consultation, it will depend on how quickly you can get us your building plans, mood boards (if you have them) and any pre-existing schedules. Our team will always try our best to meet your timeline.

How long will the process take?

This is slightly dependent upon the size of your project. For our essentials consultation services, our team will aim to get a draft lighting plan and selections back to you within 2-3 weeks. Revisions to the plan and/or selections generally take 1-2 weeks.
